How long can I rent?

After your initial chosen term of 1, 2, or 3 months, your contract will renew on a monthly basis until you give notice that you no longer require a vehicle. For hires of three months or more we may need to change your vehicle over once it reaches an agreed mileage or age and we will contact you to arrange to swap you into a newer, low mileage vehicle within 5 working days.



Off-hire/termination

We require a minimum of 4 weeks notice to terminate your agreement and this must be done by contacting 01392 203041.

How do I apply?

To make an application, select your initial term & required mileage allowance, select 'get quote' to browse our extensive range of vehicle. Complete the requested information and submit. You will receive a copy of the application and instructions on providing the required documentation to progress your request to the email listed in your application.

Identification required

In order for Thrifty to process an application for a vehicle the following identification is required:-

- Driving Licence: Clear pictures of both the front and back
- DVLA Check Code: Obtain from www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
- Most Recent Payslip*
- Proof of Address
- Most Recent Bank Statement: Ensure it shows the salary payment listed on your payslip.
*If you are self-employed, we will require the name of your business and proof of ownership from the HMRC or an Accountant
**We are unable to accept mobile phone statements as proof of address

After Document Submission, we will conduct our pre rental security checks. If successful, we will notify you and proceed with vehicle sourcing. The process may take up to 7 days from document submission. Sending your documents promptly will help speed things up.

Identity Verification

In order to manage our insurance risk and combat fraud we may conduct a search and check on the personal details you have provided using identify verification services provided by credit reference agencies and counter fraud services provided by LexisNexis.

The identity verification services we use may involve soft searching your credit file. Soft searches will not impact your credit rating or affect the way lenders see you in any way. You may see these soft searches as 'footprints' on your credit report in either our name, LexisNexis or the name of one of the credit reference agencies that we work with.

Do you provide insurance?

FlexiFleet rentals exclude insurance and you are required to provide fully comprehensive insurance for the duration of hire

If you require a rental service which includes insurance, please visit our website where you can obtain daily rental rates from one day or more

How much is the deposit?

A deposit of £750 or a sum equivalent to one month's rental charge including VAT (whichever is the greater amount) will be taken in advance of the pickup date and refunded at the end of the rental when vehicle is returned providing the vehicle is returned full of fuel, undamaged and there are no outstanding amounts against the rental.

The deposit and first month's rental charges must be made by credit or debit card.

Should the excess on the insurance policy provided by the customer exceed the deposit Thrifty reserves the right to request an increase on the deposit to match the customer's liability on the policy.

If paying by credit card, deposit will be as standard (i.e. equivalent to 1 month's rental + VAT)

In the event that the hirer does not collect the vehicle within 24 hours of the agreed time, the deposit will be returned subject to deduction of one month's rental charges

Can you deliver the vehicle to me?

While we require the driver to attend the branch for vehicle collection, we can arrange deliveries on an ad hoc basis. This arrangement depends on factors such as the distance from the branch, driver availability, and the type of vehicle. In some cases, a per-mile cost may be associated with this service.

Are you able to provide me with a vehicle registration to obtain an insurance quote?

Initially no, but on receipt of all documentation and passing our pre rental ID verification checks, our souring team will then allocate a vehicle and provide you with vehicle details to pass along to your insurers.

Are commercial vehicles supplied with branding and what is the charge to remove?

Our commercial vehicles come with Switch branding as standard. If you prefer a non-branded vehicle, there is a charge of £250+VAT per vehicle to remove the Switch branding.

Can I take my vehicle overseas?


To take your subscription car abroad Thrifty will charge you a one-off admin fee of £35.00+VAT & we ask that you provide us with a minimum of two weeks notice.


Additionally, you must make sure; the insurance includes foreign comprehensive cover, you have the required VE103B documentation from us and you have our written permission. To allow us to process your request to take your vehicle abroad we ask that you send the following information in your request to internalsales.flexi@thrifty.co.uk .

- Vehicle registration mark
- Your name
- A copy of your insurance certificate
- Date of travel from
- Date of travel to
- Additional driver s name (if applicable):
- Your current address


You are allowed to enter and/or transit the vehicle to the following countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, San Marino Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain (excluding Ceuta & Melilla) Sweden & Switzerland.
